Prince William Surprises Everyone By Shaving His Head

The Today Show

For the first time in what seems like ages, Prince William has finally sported a new hairdo.

For the past decade, the future king of England has been styling his hair in a  short, cropped look, with his bald spot slowly emerging.

While thinning hair can be a sore spot for some men, William is able to joke about his lack of tresses.

In September, William visited the Spitalfields Crypt Trust, a charity that helps people recover from addiction and homelessness, where he made a joke with one of their hairstylists.

"I don’t have much hair, I can’t give you much business," William he said to Taz Tabria, a stylist at the neighboring hair salon.

His wife, Kate Middleton has also joked about her husband's lack of hair. In 2014, the couple traveled to Australia, where Middleton suggested he could wear a toupee made out of alpaca wool.

"The prince was interested in the alpaca, and as I showed it to them the princess said he should put it on his head," Lyn Crejan, the farmer who showed the royal couple the wool, said during the visit, according to the BBC. "She said, ‘You need it more than me,’ and pointed to his head and he laughed."

Well it looks like Duke of Cambridge eventually made his way to the barbershop as he debuted a fresh new look.

On Jan. 18 William was in London to support the Step Into Health program, which helps to employ veterans in the National Health Service. While the royal is often seen making public appearances, fans noticed one thing was missing: his hair!

After seeing his new look, people have taken to Twitter, suggesting William might want to grow some facial hair.

Celebrity hairstylist Joe Mills told the Independent William's haircut shows he has confidence in his appearance.

"For a long time comments have been made, especially online and in the press, about the fact that his hair is thinning and he’s losing his hair," Mills said.

"I think him just literally going I’m going to crop my hair off is a really strong statement, a very confident statement," he added.
