Shania Twain Facing Backlash After "Dancing With The Stars" Performance

Shania Twain has been dominating country music for decades. The "You're The One" and "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" singer has given us hit after hit, and she's showing no signs of stopping.

Twain didn't always have an incredible life, however. When she was young, her mother, Sharon, married a man named Jerry Twain, who adopted Shania as his own. Sharon and Shania suffered repeated abuse at the hands of Jerry.

"I would get physically involved sometimes with my parents' fights," Shania said. "I just thought that he would kill her. One of these times"”he was gonna kill her."

When she was 22 years old, Shania Twain's parents died in a car accident. Shania was left to take of all her siblings.

"At that point in my life, I would have rather gone with them," Shania said, referring to her parents. "It was like, 'This is way too much to handle.'"

In 1993, Twain married the love of her life, Mutt Lange. They had a happy marriage for 15 years, until he cheated on her with her best friend.

"I think what made my divorce heavier for me in the moment was the fact that it was like, 'I don't think I can handle one more bloody thing like that,'" Shania explained. But that wasn't a total loss. Two years later, Twain married Frédéric Thiébaud, the ex-husband of her former best friend with whom her husband had an affair.

"It was twisted," she said wrote in the memoir, "but so beautifully twisted. I really can't complain. I've got a beautiful man."

Twain took a 15 year hiatus from show-business after suffering from Lyme disease as well as dysophonia, a debilitating vocal chord disorder that threatened her ability to sing.

"How many more traumatic moments can I take?" Shania said.

But now, Shania Twain has a new album out and is ready to take the world by storm once again. Twain took the stage on Dancing With The Stars to perform one of her new songs "Soldier." However, fans were not impressed at all.

Twain took center stage as the dancers performed around her. There's just one small problem...she appears to be lip-syncing.

Shania sounded flawless, which tipped off a lot of viewers that she was just in fact mouthing along to the track.

"So sad that she lip-synced the performance," one fan wrote. "Love her but that was beyond obvious, [and] it was too awkward to watch."

"It sounds exactly like the version of the CD," wrote another. "Wish she weren't lip syncing, i love this song! Best song on the album! She looks great  with her hair like that! She sounds great live, just wish it was!"

It's possible that Twain's vocal chords were suffering the effects of dysophonia, but fans still wanted more.

But before people jump to conclusions, another fan wrote about a possible explanation.

"Someone who was in the crowd stated she DID sing this live, however ABC dubbed it over with the album track," it said. "I understand she doesn't always want to rely on her voice in fear of something happening or not sounding the way she wants it to, but to me being criticized for being "fake", which she is the total opposite of,  is worse than missing a few notes. I love her new sounding voice. It's got a more raw, warm and soulful sound to it. It could be anybody else's fault, ABC, her management, but in the end it just looks bad on her part and she gets the blame."
