Shemar Moore Opens Up About "Hush-Hush" Relationship With Halle Berry

I can't think of a single person who does not love Shemar Moore. The former soap star, Criminal Minds actor, and current S.W.A.T. star has been in the industry for years and is showing no sign of slowing down!

Moore loves interacting with fans on social media. He's maybe the only celebrity who can post as much as he does without being labeled vain or cocky, simply because of his charisma (and those dimples!). But something noticeably missing from Moore's social media is any hint of a romantic life.

The 47-year-old has never been married and is rarely linked to anyone publicly. He also caused a kerfuffle when he posed with an LGBTQ fan, because apparently that's an issue? The rumor mill started speculating that Moore was gay, but he shot those down pretty quickly.

"I just think it's all silly," he said. "If you're gay, you're gay. I'm not, and I know that and I'm very comfortable with who I am and I love women," he said. "I've dated plenty of them. If you think I'm gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens. For real. You can call that arrogant if you want to. I just call it confident. You can call me whatever you want, but you don't know me."

Seems like he's made it pretty clear that he's straight. But Moore also went on to clarify his stance on the ignorance that follows these rumors.

"I have fans that are gay," Moore said. "Men that come up to me, and they're inspired by me, or they like me as an entertainer, and when they want to give me a hug or take pictures with me, what, am I supposed to not put my arm around them or stand next to them, and if the man next to me in the picture is gay, that makes me gay? That's just simpleminded ignorance, and I don't play that."

That still left a lot of people wondering why the handsome actor is still single. Surely someone out there is right for him! But after hearing the way Moore talks about his past relationships, we're starting to understand things a little more.

In an interview with BET, Moore said "it's no accident" he's still single, and that his relationships with Toni Braxton and Halle Berry taught him about what he's looking for in a woman. But it seems like Berry more than Braxton is what Moore is looking for in a relationship.

Toni Braxton

"[Toni Braxton] was my first Hollywood relationship," Moore revealed. "I was a baby, I did not know s***. I had just graduated from college, I had no money and I was on Young and the Restless. She called my agent when she was shooting a video in Miami, and it just went from there. I was like the little kid who found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was a wild ride with Toni. She would never sing for me, though. That always bothered me."

And Halle? Well, let's just say that Moore isn't necessarily pining for her, but if someone like her came around again, he wouldn't be upset.

Halle Berry

"She was the first woman to really knock my socks off," the actor confessed. "I fell hard for Halle. A lot of people now know we dated, but we had to keep it hush-hush at the time because she was fresh off her divorce from David Justice. I'm still grateful for that relationship."

"I was smitten not just because of who she was, but because we were so similar in so many ways," he continued. "She was biracial, she was kind of going through the same things I was in Hollywood. Toni was a fun ride, but Halle was a necessary experience. It made me much stronger as a man, and knowing the caliber of woman I want in the future."

But make no mistake, Moore doesn't have any regrets about letting Berry go.

"No, none at all," he said. "She's a tough cookie. I'm glad she's got a family now. If this love she's got with this guy is real, then that's what she needs."

Future Plans

Moore also said the reason he hasn't settled down yet is pretty simple, Hollywood is rough on a family.

"Despite what I've achieved in my career, I'm always wondering when somebody's gonna tap me on the shoulder and say, 'OK, the gig is up,'" Moore said. "It's not exactly the best scenario for a family. Of course, I want to be able to share that with somebody one day. When I do tie the knot, it will be one time, for good."

It's nice to see that Shemar is doing what's best for his future family and not letting the "typical" Hollywood romances take over his life! He really is perfect, isn't he??
