Simon And Garfunkel Perform "Sound of Silence" 51 Years Ago

Simon and Garfunkel are one of the most well respected music duos in the world. Their songs built a generation and are still coveted today.

They originally released their first song, "Hey, Schoolgirl" under the name Tom & Jerry. The song peaked at #49 on the pop charts in 1957. In 1964, their first album was released as Simon and Garfunkel.

But it wasn't until 1966 that (arguably) their most popular song came to be well-known. "Sound of Silence" is revered by music fans to this day and holds a special place in history.

Though they performed this song many times, this performance of Sound of Silence marks an iconic moment in their past, and Simon and Garfunkel got big soon after this clip aired.

You need to watch this segment from a TV show in the Netherlands called TWIN. It still sends goosebumps down my spine. We are watching history be made.

Take a look.
