For a long time, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue was not exactly known for celebrating the "average" woman's body. Its images were more often than not the retouched version of the 'ideal' figure.
This year's edition of the swimsuit issue is causing quite a stir for a refreshing new reason. This year's issue has taken an entirely different perspective on the female form. Readers are looking forward to featured Olympic medalists, Aly Raisman and Simone Biles as well as 63-year-old stunner Cristie Brinkley.
But the one model featured in the SI pages everyone is talking about isn't even posing for the magazine.
An advertisement for Lane Bryant's body confidence series is making massive strides by featuring a stunning, fuller-figured model in her fiercest glory, stretch marks and all.
Model Denise Bidot's casual, confident pose says it all: every body is a beach body. She is powerful, nonchalant and unapologetic.
In her own Instagram post, Bido reposted the image with the following quote "It's amazing to be a part of the change that's helping women see once and for all that nobody is perfect."
If the likes on her post are any indication, over 17,000 women agree.
What do you think? Is Sports Illustrated on the cusp of change?
