When I was a teenager, one of my favorite programs to binge watch was MTV's 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom.

The show, which depicted the harsh realities of teen pregnancy, followed four brave women as their lives were about to change.

Luckily, the hit series did a world of good, by teaching teenagers across North America the importance of using protection while having sex.

My favorite cast member was Catelynn Lowell, who made the brave decision to give her daughter up for adoption.

As an adopted child myself, I could empathize with her choice, as she was torn between giving her newborn a better life and being a part of her flesh and blood's life.

Luckily, Catelynn and her husband Tyler Baltierra have an open adoption with their biological daughter Carly, and have since welcomed their second child, Novalee, into the world.

Sadly, on Monday's episode of Teen Mom OG, it was revealed the beloved couple suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.

In the episode, Tyler was candid about their loss, sharing the intimate details on when they found out they lost their baby.

"It was very traumatic. I saw her shaking, and she's got blood everywhere," Baltierra said to a producer on the show. "She kinda like cleaned herself up and we figured what was going on. Spotting is normal but clotting... all the clots are not. We just sat on the bed and cried. We held each other. There's nothing you can really do."

He also elaborated on how the pair's loss brought on similar emotions to when they gave their firstborn up for adoption.

"Carly's a little different because we get to see her every year, but it's a loss. I feel like you process it as a loss," he added.

Following the episode, Tyler went Twitter to further discuss the difficulty of facing a miscarriage.

"That baby may have not been fully grown in the womb...but it was fully grown in our hearts. For every parent out there who has lost a baby...it is not your fault & it is more than acceptable & understandable to mourn the loss of that baby & take your time to grieve #ParentStrong," Tyler tweeted.

The loss of their third child was the breaking point for Catelynn, as she shortly entered rehab after experiencing suicidal thoughts. She said if it wasn't for her family,

"If they weren't around, I probably would've offed myself. Seriously, I'm sure a lot of people can relate," she said. "It's like, I don't want to live another day like this."

Our thoughts and prayers are with Catelynn and Tyler as they deal with their heartbreaking loss.
