Let's face it, we could all use a little help with organization from time to time. Whether it's a full blow seasonal scrub down or just tidying up on a Sunday, the time we take to clean up and declutter can make a big difference in our day to day lives.
One of the most intimidating places to start can be the closet. When it comes to your wardrobe, letting go can be tough. Where do you even start? Do you need to get rid of that prized prom dress? Will you fit into those jeans again? Is that skirt going to be in style next season?
According to Marie Kondo, Japanese organizing consultant and star of the Netflix show Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, it's time to lose the things that don't make you happy.
In fact, Kondo even suggests that you hold a piece of clothing and ask yourself "does this spark joy?" If it doesn't, it's time to let it go. Does this all sound crazy to you? Well it's not because Kondo's growing following indicates that people all over are loving it. The approach is meant to create a harmonious home filled with things that contribute to your best life.
Kondo's most valuable tool for tidying up might be her folding method. Rather than folding clothing and stacking it in drawers, you fold each item so that it stands upright. When you think about it, this makes perfect sense. How have we not been doing this for years? Your clothes are so much easier to find when they are lined up next to each other.

Not to mention, the more folds that a piece has the less wrinkles there are. This popular folding technique is called the Konmari Folding Method. Are you ready to see what all the fuss is about? Check out the video to see how to fold your clothes properly.
