The Tragic Reason Why A Stranger Gave A Toddler A $20 Bill In Target

A few days ago, a mother shared a bittersweet post about how a stranger brought her to tears while she was shopping with her son at Target.

"This momma just cried in the middle of Target," Alyssa Hacker of Coweta, Oklahoma started her post.

Given all the mom-shaming incidents that have been taking place lately, you would think that she was about to dive into another rant about how a stranger hurt her feelings, but her post was a far cry from that.

While navigating the aisles at the Fort Smith Target, Alyssa's son, Owen, took interest in some dinosaur toys. She was in the midst of helping the toddler pick one out of the three, when an older man happened to be walking by them.

But, what the man actually did next that not only had the mom in tears, but it also showed her there was hope in the world.

"Owen abruptly yelled 'HI' at this older man walking past us," Alyssa wrote. "He turned around and said 'hey sweet boy' he proceeded to play dinosaurs with Owen and with this crazy world we live in I was a little hesitant as to how close he was with Owen."

As most parents would react when an overly-friendly stranger approaches their child, Alyssa was slightly uncomfortable having a stranger interact with her son so closely, but it turns out that the man was reminded of his grandson when he saw Owen.

As Owen continued to play with the toys, the man pulled out a $20 bill and slid it into the little boy's shirt pocket. He proceeded to explain that, he had just lost his 2-year-old grandson a week ago. "'You take this money and buy this boy all three dinosaurs'," the man told Alyssa.

He then "rubbed Owens back, wiped his tears and walked off," Alyssa explained. "After Owen yelled 'thank you' the gentleman turned around and yelled 'boomer sooner!'"

"There is still some good in this world," she concluded.

The touching post has gone viral and received nealry 350,000 likes and over 130,000 shares.
