8 Supporting Cartoon Characters That Deserve Their Own Movies

uMad/playbuzz.com

For the last several decades kids have grown up watching their favorite Disney and Pixar movies, falling in love with the characters as the trials and tribulations of their lives play out on the screen. Most of the time the protagonist gets all of the limelight, but they wouldn't be half of what they are without the supporting characters helping the story along. With that being said, there are definitely some of these supporting characters that deserve their own spin-off movies.

Let's take a look at 8 of these characters that I would absolutely take my children to the theaters to see take center stage.

1. Rex - Toy Story 1, 2, 3.

Rex is such a lovable character from the Toy Story franchise. His manic personality and unique sense of humor make him one of the more important secondary characters from the series. Imagine where the toys would be if they didn't have Rex's pointy tail around to help them escape the garbage bag on route to the end of the driveway.

2. Pascal - Tangled

I have had to sit through the movie Tangled more times than I can count, I virtually know the characters lines by heart. One of the greatest aspects of the movie is Rapunzel's silent pet chameleon Pascal. He is hilarious and seems to be one of the smarter characters from the movie. One question that was never answered was how Pascal and Rapunzel came to be such close friends? I can see an epic story coming out of that.

3. Dug - Up

Dug is one of the most hilariously written characters in the Disney Pixar universe. He fits perfectly into the story being told in Up, and realistically his jovial and fun loving personality would fit well in any type of story. Frankly, I am surprised that more hasn't already been done with the character, kids love him.

4. Bing Bong - Inside Out

The concept behind this movie is truly breathtaking, and even I loved sitting down to watch it. One of the best secondary characters appears when we are introduced to Riley's imaginary friend Bing Bong. He is one of the few characters who exists both inside and outside of Riley's mind, and he is the true hero of the story once he sacrifices himself to ensure that Joy escapes from the Memory Dump. Let's see a stand alone Bing Bong movie!

Oh My Disney

5. Frozone - The Incredibles

Samuel L. Jackson is literally in everything. Though his character plays a minor role throughout most of the first Incredibles movie, he is still an awesome member of the supporting cast. His sarcasm makes him particularly funny. It would be great to learn exactly what heroic acts he performed in the past in order to be one of the few "supers" still left standing after it was all said and done.

6. Eve - Wall - E

We already saw the success that can happen when a favorite secondary character is given their own movie (ex. Finding Dory), and if any other character is up to the challenge it would be Eve from Wall - E. Eve showed us emotional growth throughout the entire movie, eventually coming to be a true companion of Wall - E, and it would be amazing to see where the story takes us next? Possibly a return to Earth to help with the process of regrowth.

7. Jessie - Toy Story 2 and 3

It was fantastic when the writers introduced us to Jessie, a strong and independent female character to compliment the already known Woody and Buzz. It could go in a couple of different directions, either a Buzz and Jessie love story out on their own, or possibly a prequel to her life with her first kid, Emily. Little girls everywhere deserve to see this story happen.

Pixar-Planet

8. Mushu - Mulan

A bit of a throwback on this list, Mushu, who was voiced by the legendary Eddie Murphy, really helped Mulan become the classic that it is known as today. He is such a wild and wacky character that his style of hijinx would play perfectly into a stand alone movie. Can you imagine what that little dragon could get up to if left to his own devices?
