Check your freezers right away! The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA and FSIS) have issued an urgent recall of a product you might have bought recently.
On April 20, 2017, the frozen dinner was put on a public health alert due to possible Salmonella contamination. To prevent the spread of foodborne illness, the FSIS is advising consumers to throw out or return the affected product to the retail location where they bought it.
Although there have been no illness reported as of yet, a person infected with the dangerous bacteria may experience severe symptoms, including high fever, diarrhea, bloody stool, abdominal cramping, vomiting, and body aches.
Conagra Brands, Inc was notified by a supplier that the brownie mix in their Banquet Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese dinner could contain Salmonella.
The affected frozen dinner being recalled is any 7.4 oz. vacuum-packed tray containing "BANQUET Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese" with Code 3100080921 and a "Best if Used By" date of July 20, 2018.
Unfortunately, these frozen dinners were shipped to retail locations nationwide, which means over 239,000 products have to be taken off shelves.
If you've consumed this product and are worried about getting sick, contact your doctor. Anyone with questions about the recall should contact Conagra Brands Consumer Affairs at (800) 289-6014.
