Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer, is no stranger to controversy, especially when it comes to the topic of body size.
Beckham, who took a break from work over the holidays, announced her return to the fashion world by unveiling new eye wear designs from her brand's Spring/Summer 2018 collection.

Unfortunately, not everyone welcomed the designer back with open arms. Many social media users found Beckham's use of Lithuanian model Giedre Dukauskaite to be problematic, and it has stirred quite the backlash over the last couple of days.
So what is it about the photos that has people so riled up?
Instead of the glasses being the focus as Beckham intended it to be, everyone seemed to be worried about 29-year-old Dukauskaite's appearance and the message it conveys.
Social media users from all corners of the world have accused Beckham of promoting an unhealthy image of what women should look like by using a model that appears "sickly skinny" in her latest ad campaign.
“This image is why my already tiny daughter thinks she needs to eat less,” one angry mom wrote on Facebook. Another chimed in, “Victoria I adore you, but with the exorbitant prices you charge for [your] clothing couldn’t you at least buy this model a sandwich for god’s sake?"
A few others claimed that commenting on the model's body is a form of body-shaming, opening up the debate around what is a healthy look for a model.
According to a study by Model Alliance, Harvard and Northeastern University, 81 percent of the models surveyed had a body mass index that the World Health Organization considers underweight.
Celebrities like television host and talent show judge Piers Morgan and plus size model Felicity Hayward also weighed in on the controversy.
“Victoria Beckham’s shocking and shameful promotional image made me feel physically sick — but will have a far more damaging effect on many impressionable young girls who see it,” Morgan wrote in a column.
As for Hayward, she put emphasis on the fact that "accessories aren't size specific," and "if Victoria had a range of models of different sizes in the campaign all wearing the glasses it would have made much more of an impact than having a girl that is quite thin modelling eyewear."
The popular model also echoed the concerns of many parents when she said that "it’s unhealthy for children to be exposed to only seeing one type of body."
"They need to see healthy bodies at all sizes," she continued. "They need to be exposed to a range of different people They can be influenced so easily, so the more diverse people they are exposed to the better."
This isn't the first time that Beckham has been caught in the middle of this sort of debate. A few years ago, she was slammed for only hiring super thin models for photoshoots and runway shows. Back then, she defended her decision, saying that although the models appear thin, they have all been given a clean bill of health.
Beckham herself has been subjected to criticism over her svelte figure, with some people claiming she suffers from anorexia.
Beckham has yet to comment on the recent matter.
