15 Vintage Recipes That Makes You Glad Time Moves Forward

BuzzFeed

When we look back, we usually think of fond memories and all the great things that happened before the turn of this century.

Well, I think it's about time to get our head out of the clouds and remember some food fads that were tried by millions of people around the world.

Based simply on the pictures I can honestly say I don't think I would willingly ask for any of these dishes, they just don't look that appetizing to me. Would you try these?

These 15 recipes, thankfully, have not stood the test of time.

1. Shrimp Cake Roulette

Did they puree shrimp to make it look like pink frosting? Oh no...

2. Soup sandwiches

Why didn't they just dunk the bread in the soup if they wanted to get it all soaked up?

3. Spam 'n' Limas

This wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but it definitely would make my fear factor food list.

4. Some mystery meat with green mush

Do you really want to know what that is? Sometimes its better to be left in the dark.

5. Jellied Tomato Refresher

How can something that looks that chewy be refreshing?

6. Liver Sausage Pineapple

Every ingredient is a horrible story on its own.

Trust me, it gets better...

7. Ham and Bananas Hollandaise

This is what happens when teenagers try to get creative in the kitchen.

8. Cup Steak Puddings

Steak needs some kind of strong, salty barbecue flavor, not sweet pudding.

9. Super Supper Salad Loaf

How in the world is this easy to make?

10. Lime Cheese Salad

I'll speak for the majority of humankind: it's a no.

11. Snowy Chicken Confetti Salad

But where is the chicken?

12. Peppermint Popcorn Tree

Not the worst thing we've seen so far.

13. Jello-O Pie

Hell-no pie.

14. Monterey Souffle Salad

Lemon gelatin, mayonnaise, vegetables, tuna put together to create a food tragedy.

15. Frosted Ribbon Loaf

Frosting should only be allowed on delicious sweets.

Have you ever tried any of these vintage recipes?
