Having a famous parent can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, children of celebrities get to enjoy the life of the rich and famous, but on the other, they often don't get the attention they need from their busy parents.

For Lukas Nelson, country legend Willie Nelson's son, learning how to play the guitar well was one way to get closer to his dad, who would often be away on tour.

"When I was young, you were gone a lot and I figured the one thing that would be able to bring us together was if I learned how to play real well, and then we could go out on the road together and I could be around you more," Lukas told his father last year.

Over time, Lukas perfected his strumming skills, and joined his father's Family Band. When he isn't performing with his iconic dad, Lukas works on his own music, even forming a group named Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real.

The band is constantly playing shows all over the country, and are building up a very strong fan base, but that comes as no surprise because the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree. In addition to playing the guitar, Lukas is just as vocally talented as dear old dad.

The singer often takes time between tour stops for some impromptu jam sessions, and there's one particular recording that has stood out from the rest.

In 1982, Willie released the original version of the song "Always On My Mind," and it earned him a Grammy nomination that year. Now, over 35 years later, his son has recorded a live performance of the song.

In case you needed a reminder, here's what the original song sounds like:

Now take a listen at Lukas's stunning soulful cover. If you close your eyes, you would actually think it was Willie singing!

Lukas and his brother Micah recently collaborated on an album with their father called Willie Nelson and the Boys (Willie's Stash, Vol. 2). The album, which was mostly recorded in 2011, was released on October 20, 2017.

"I knew one day y'all would probably sit down and start playing, and sure enough," Willie said to his sons during one of the videos they released ahead of the album's debut.
