Like anyone else with a working bladder, it's inevitable that infants and toddlers will eventually need to go, and require a diaper change.

Luckily for parents on the move, there are plenty of family washrooms available at most restaurants and department stores, so finding a changing table for your child shouldn't be a hassle.

While some of us don't think twice about these stations as long as they look relatively clean, one Indiana mother is warning her fellow caretakers not to use them if they see black marks on the baby changing tables.

"It could mean the difference between life or death."

Jessica Wayman, 24, posted a message on Facebook to warn her fellow parents that while the black scuff marks on these tables may look inconspicuous, its presence is a major red flag.

"Before putting your babies anywhere near these things, ALWAYS wipe them down first. Even if you are in a hurry, even if you have a blanket to lay down," she wrote.

"See the black marks? Those are from burnt spoons. Addicts use these as tables while they shoot up. There could be residue from heroin/meth whatever, and other harmful bodily fluids. If someone doesn't care about themselves, I can promise you, they aren't thinking about your kids. Be cautious."

"Share so this can reach to as many parents, guardians and babysitters as possible. It could mean the difference between life or death or a serious life threatening injury, for a lot of innocent children and unsuspecting parents."

After having her message shared more than 111,000 times, Wayman updated her post by adding that since she's a recovering heroin addict, she's one of the few privy to this information.

"I am a recovering addict myself, which is why I made this post in the first place, to warn all the unsuspecting parents who would never think something like this when looking at a changing table," she continued.

"Along with people using them as tables while they shoot up, they are also OFTEN used by addicts to bust drugs out and crush them up upon. So again, be cautious."

Reactions

Friends of Wayman couldn't help but voice their astonishment over her announcement.

"I'm so glad you just shared this .... NOTED," Brooke Nichole Smith commented.

"That's great for people to know. Glad mine are grown, but that brings other concerns," Carol Elder chimed in.

"One of the many reasons I always carry Clorox wipes with me! But honestly I always go to my vehicle and change my twins," Drucilla Reynolds added.

"I only go to the bathroom anymore when I have to change them right away and going to my vehicle isn't convenient at the time. You just never know what or who you'll encounter these days."

Wayman said she felt compelled to share her message due to the drug epidemic surrounding the country.

"I see it literally everywhere, there is a major epidemic in our country right now, and a lot of addicts are recklessly endangering a lot of innocent people, without even realizing," she wrote in the comment section of her post.
