Watch As Ryan Reynolds Makes Dying Fan's Wish Come True

They say superheroes don't exist but I beg to differ because Ryan Reynolds just became a real life one after what he did for a very ill fan.

5-year-old Daniel Downing was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Pontine Glioma. Since it is at an advanced stage, there isn't much more doctors can do to shrink inoperable tumor.

Although devastated, his family has been by his side the entire time and have been doing their utmost to make sure the rest of little Daniel's days are as happy and as comfortable as possible.

To everyone's utter surprise word of Daniel's illness reached the ear of one of his favorite actors, Ryan Reynolds.

The 40-year-old actor was made aware that Daniel was a big Marvel fan and Deadpool was one of his favorite characters. Being a father and having experienced the feeling of having a life-long wish come true by playing Deadpool, Reynolds didn't hesitate to make Daniel's wish come true.

Since Reynolds is currently on the set of the Deadpool 2, he couldn't fly out to meet Daniel instead he decided to put technology to good use. The actor used FaceTime on his iPhone for a video chat session with Daniel.

"Daniel picked up the phone and Ryan asked if he knew who he was," mom Stephanie told the Plymouth Herald. "As soon as Daniel realised, he asked if he could FaceTime him and then he was very, very hyper.

Daniel told Reynolds about his condition then later showed off his Deadpool t-shirt to his idol during the emotional chat.

"Ah that's awesome, what an awesome T-shirt! You know I'm the only guy who doesn't have one of those T-shirts, I need to get one of those," Reynold enthusiastically replied.

Reynolds then offered to show Daniel a sneak peek of the set of the comic book-based film and even the rest of the cast got in on the action by waving hello to the sickly boy.

"Do you want to walk me? I'll take you onto the set for a second. It's going to be good, it's going to be a little dark in here, OK?" Reynolds asked the young boy.

Daniel's mother later explained that the call lasted for 15 minutes and Daniel was in much better spirits after his chat with the Canadian-born star.

Daniel's family have set up a JustGiving fundraising page to raise money for his palliative care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. If you'd like to help, you can visit the page here.
