I love anything bright and colorful on my patio in the summer time. Something about bright colors always just puts me in a great mood. I love bright pillows, area rugs, planters and flowers. Summer time feeling is a real thing!
Every year comes the annual cleaning of the yard and we had to tear a tree down this year. It was a beautiful and as we started cutting I loved the look of the branches and the stumps and just knew we could re-purpose them into something else for around the house.
It was my husband who actually suggested cutting the small branches to make coasters. I think he had a much different idea of them when he made the suggestion as he mentioned needing something for the 'man cave'. Little did he know I had an even better idea.
Doing what I do best, I poked around on Pinterest for some crafting DIY ideas and found the cutest thing I have ever seen! Bright colors, coasters painted as different fruits. I loved it! Super easy to paint and trust me I have little painting skills, these little watermelon coasters made the perfect addition to my back deck! We get compliments on them all the time!

Tipsy Garden Terra Cotta Planters
To make, cut a tree branch into half inch slices. Sand and allow the wood to fully dry for a few days. With small paint brush, paint the one side of the coaster with your green right to the edge and allow to fully dry.
Next, repeat the previous step leaving a 1/4 inch of green exposed, creating a smaller circle working inward. Allow to fully dry.
Repeat the same step in the pink, again leaving a 1/4 inch of white around. Allow to fully dry.
Using a black permanent marker, create tear drop shape seeds inside the pink circle and allow a few minutes to fully dry.
Using sparkly mod podge, paint over the pink portion of your watermelon and allow to fully dry.
Put them inside or out and enjoy the cutest summer coasters you have ever seen!
