Will Ferrell Rushed To Hospital After SUV Flips On The Freeway

Just a few days ago, comedian Will Ferrell was making people laugh when he showed up at an NBA Game between the LA Lakers and the Houston Rockets wearing a fake green Masters Jacket.

The funnyman wore the jacket to poke fun at golf champion Patrick Reed, who wore his winner's jacket while sitting court side at a New York Knicks game the night before.

Now, Ferrell is back in the headlines, but unfortunately, this time it's no laughing matter.

The Anchorman actor has reportedly been involved in a car accident around 11 p.m. on April 12. He was on his way back from a Funny or Die event in the San Diego.

According to celebrity news website TMZ, Ferrell and two other people were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after the SUV they were riding in flipped during a two-car crash.

Police are keeping quiet about the details of the accident, however, TMZ reports that witnesses said the SUV got "side-swiped by another car," on the Orange County I-5 freeway.

As for Ferrell's condition, there has not been an official update on how severely he had been injured, however, one witness said that the car looked badly damaged, and the actor was "bleeding profusely on the scene."

The witness added that the Step Brothers star was on talking on his phone as he was being loaded up on a stretcher.

Neither Ferrell nor his team have commented on the scary incident.

The comedian is just the latest celebrity to have been involved in a serious accident in the last 12 months.

More recently, actor Luke Wilson, recognizable for his role in Legally Blonde, was part of a deadly crash in Los Angeles.

According to the police, Wilson was driving a Toyota FJ when he was struck by a Ferrari, whose passengers were a 71-year-old man and professional golfer Bill Haas, 35. Another car, a BMW, was a part of the crash, and its driver, a 50-year-old woman, was also hurt.

Golf Digest later confirmed that the actor was taken to a hospital, but he turned out to be fine.

Wilson has not publicly discussed the accident since it took place earlier this year.

A few months prior, Scottish heartthrob Gerard Butler, best known for his roles in P.S. I Love You and 300, suffered a few injuries after his motorcycle was ran off the road by a car.

Witnesses immediately called 911, and Butler was taken to the hospital, where he received treatment for a fractured foot, a torn meniscus, as well as some cuts and bruises.

Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet so he didn't sustain any head injuries.

The 47-year-old later opened up about the incident, saying that the crash sent him "flying through the air" and could've easily "taken him out."

"It made me really appreciate how precious life is because I could have landed any number of ways that would have taken me out," Butler said.

Butler was worried that he wouldn't be able to continue filming the movie he was working on at the time, but it all turned out fine in the end.

There still isn't any confirmation on whether or not charges will be pressed against the driver who ran Butler off the road. Running someone off the road, if it was on purpose, can be classified as aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. In California, this is the specific law on the matter:

"Any person who commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment."

On the same day as Gerard's accident, across the pond, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was also transported to a hospital after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle.

Luckily, his injuries weren't life-threatening. He only suffered a broken right arm, and slightly injured his left.

He was forced to cancel some of his tour dates, but he resumed touring as soon as his arms healed.

We're so glad these men made it out alive.

We're also relieved that Ferrell seems to be okay, and continue to pray for his speedy recovery.
