She Bought Two Houses For Almost Nothing In The '70s, And Now They're Worth Millions

In 1977, Jane Alexander and her husband Gus won the right to bid for a couple of run-down cottages in Whitechapel, an East End district in London, England.

Since the properties were deemed too expensive to repair, the city gave the locals a chance to enter a prize draw. When their names were called, the couple was offered each home for the incredible price of £150.

Nearly 44-years and a massive makeover later, they're selling it for over $1 million USD!

When they found out that they had won the draw, Jane and Gus and were on their honeymoon in Ireland.

"We got a letter saying that we had to pay £300 - £150 for each house - and the condition was that we had to turn these two houses into one," she told the Daily Mail.

As an architect, Gus had a pretty good eye for what would need to change in order to bring the houses up to a proper living standard.

Two years and about $40,000 USD later, the couple had completely transformed the houses into one, stunning abode:

The stunning transformation shows off the house's two bathrooms, four bedrooms with big windows and lots of natural light.

The large open plan main level kitchen and reception room leads out to a beautiful garden.

Towering ceilings, solid wood floors and massive windows are just some of the beautiful details this home has to offer.

Whoever purchases the house will also have planning permission to build an additional 600 square feet - that would make for an amazing office space or a studio apartment!

At market value, Jane and Gus are selling the home for £1.9 million (about $2.5 million USD).

What an investment!
