Woman Kicked Out Of Lounge Area Because She Was Wearing Ugg Boots

Mashable

The internet loves to generate its own original stereotypes. Perhaps the most popular is the "basic white girl look," which is attributed to girls that love to dress comfortably and drink Starbucks in the fall and winter.

All stereotypes aside, Ugg boots are crazy comfy, but they're not considered appropriate footwear everywhere.

But what better place to wear comfortable and warm attire than an airport lounge?

One woman was denied access to an airline's sitting area because her Ugg boots aren't considered boots at all...

They're considered to be sleepwear!

Joanne Catherall, a member of synthpop band The Human League, was kicked out of Qantas's business lounge in Melbourne Airport for wearing Ugg boots.

But the question is, how are boots that everyone wears outside considered sleepwear?

The singer took to Twitter to address her concerns about the airline's policy.

"Denied access @Qantas business class lounge in @Melair Melbourne Airport apparently Ugg (Australia) Boots are deemed sleepwear by the lady working there although no problem in any of the other lounges so far. Helpfully she suggested I go to one of the shops & purchase some shoes," she wrote.

The airline had an answer for her: "Hi Joanne, we endeavour to remain consistent and uphold our Lounge's dress guidelines to all our guests. You may find details here: http://bit.ly/1TKrgMP. Mark."

Here's an illustration of what the airline deems to be appropriate and inappropriate dress wear.

But not everyone was pleased by their answer.

Have you ever been denied entering a place for what you were wearing?
