10 Signs You're Not Drinking Enough Water

It's safe to assume that not all of us are drinking the recommended 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water every day.

It may sounds like a lot, but when you think about it, we also lose a lot of water each day. From sweat, to bathroom trips, even in our breath as we breathe and talk water, is disappearing from our bodies.

But what really happens to our bodies when we aren't drinking enough water?

1. Your mouth is dry

While it may seem obvious, many of us ignore this symptom and continue on with our day. Some times we will quench our thirst with a soft drink or cup of coffee, when really we are further dehydrating our body. When your mouth gets dry, always go for the water first- it's what your body needs.

2. You have dry skin

It's not just forced air that can cause your skin to get dry over the winter. When you don't have enough water, your body's largest organ tends to dry out. Grab a glass of water and some lotion to get it feeling better in no time.

3. Your eyes are dry

Think of the last time you had a hangover. You probably not only woke up thirsty and with a headache, but your eyes were probably red too. That's because alcohol dehydrates your body and that includes your eyes.

If your constipated that means your stool is really hard. This could mean that you're not getting enough water to mix into your bowel movements. If you drink enough water regularly you should have an easy time in the bathroom.

Have you started to realize that a cold seems to last forever? If you are staying sick longer than usual, it may be a sign that you aren't properly hydrated. Water helps flush out toxins which is why doctors tell you to drink plenty of liquids when you're sick.
