A California schoolteacher is out of a job this week, after a disturbing video of her giving a student a haircut was released.

Margaret Gieszinger, 52, who taught chemistry at Visalia, California's University Preparatory School until Wednesday, was taped belting out "The Star Spangled Banner" while cutting a boy's hair.

So far, no one has been able to properly explain Gieszinger's bizarre behavior, or what led up to the haircut.

But police Chief Kevin Mizner of the College of the Sequoias says the teacher was arrested for child endangerment on Wednesday.

A video of the scene, apparently recorded by a student, shows Gieszinger cutting the student's hair at the front of the class. When the boy gets up to leave, Gieszinger says, "You're not done."

Other students screamed and ran out of the room as the teacher chased them with scissors.

One student described Gieszinger as having "another freak out" earlier in the week when "a test was missing or something."

"She accused the students of taking the test," the student told ABC 30.

Sara Rocha, the parent of a child at the school, said Gieszinger made a student cry during that incident.

"I hope I never have to see her at the school again," the anonymous student added, "because I know for a fact I can never see her as a respectable authority figure in my life."

Another student told a different side of the story to the Visalia Times Delta:

"I am not trying to make excuses for her, I simply ask everyone to reconsider how they view her," said Gieszinger's student Lilli Gates.

"She is a loving and kind lady. She is usually all smiles and laughs. This is not the Miss G. we know and love."

The Commission of Teacher Credentialing reportedly confirmed that Gieszinger has had her teaching credentials suspended twice before, in 2007 and 2016.
