As she handed out the compliment quota, Judge Loo also capped the amount of days he has to write them at 144.
When Darren Young heard the sentence passed he told the judge that he is a changed man and will comply with the courts decision, saying he has now begun to move forward with his life.
"I don't know whether I should cut off your fingers or take away your phone to get you to stop texting," Loo said. However, she said she believes that the defendant has changed, and thinks the unusual sentence is better than further jail time.
Along with the 144 compliments, Young will pay a $2,400 fine and perform 200 hours of community service.
