Mom Challenges Teacher After Daughter Begins To 'Unravel' Due To Strict Routine

Without question, school work loads are getting heavier and heavier. It seems like kids are assigned more work at home than they do in the classroom!

Writer and mom Bunmi Laditan finally had enough of her 10-year-old daughter Maya feeling completely stressed out due to her homework amount.

Laditan, an American living in Quebec, is a writer who has more than 540,000 followers on Facebook. She posted about her frustrations online.

"Is family time not important? Is time spent just being a child relaxing at home not important? Or should she become some kind of junior workaholic at 10 years old?" she writes.

Laditan posted a follow-up comment making something VERY clear:

"I want to state that I'm in no way blaming her teachers. They're incredible and I know they have to do things a certain way. This system just isn't working for my family or my child. I can't watch her unravel anymore and be filled with so much stress at age 10. Her dad (who is a very good behavioral therapist) and I have worked hard to reduce her stress, but there's just too much work. I don't talk about my kids much because I try to respect their privacy but I felt like I needed to get this out there. Something has to change."

Laditan sent an email to Maya's school teacher explaining she will no longer be completing homework assignments.

Laditan was met with an outcry of support, people seemed to be really on her side.

Laditan says she'll post an update from the school soon, and hopefully they're as supportive as everyone else!
