3 Steps to Take to Have a Cleaner Car

gETTY

We spend a lot of time in our cars -- from driving to and from work, heading to the grocery store, and late night snack runs, our vehicles see a lot of use. But unfortunately, with all of the running around, our cars can sometimes end up quite messy. And a messy, unorganized car can be inconvenient and sometimes embarrassing. So if you're looking for a few easy ways to keep your car clean and organized, keep reading.

Keep a Bag for Garbage

One of the most common problems when it comes to keeping cars clean is the accumulation of garbage. From granola bar wrapper to receipts to dirty tissues, the floors and seats of your vehicle can quickly become littered with trash. This is why it can be beneficial to keep a plastic bag, ziplock bag, or even a plastic container in your car as a mini garbage can. Keep the bag or bin within reach so you can easily put your trash in there and simply throw the whole bag away when it's full. This is a super simple way to keep little pieces of garbage from piling up in your car.

Create a "Car Kit"

There are probably several items that you use every day that somehow end up thrown about your vehicle. Tissues, wet wipes, floss, and other items are commonly used in cars but can quickly turn into clutter. And with there being about 300,000 items in the average home, you don't want to have to worry about bringing stuff from your home to your car and then losing it. So instead of throwing items randomly in your vehicle and then wasting time trying to find them, consider making a "car kit". This is a bin or bag filled with items you commonly use while on the road. Having one place for all of your "to-go" items can make it easy and convenient to find what you need, use it, then put it back in the same place.

Regularly Clean the Carpet

While it can time some time and effort to clean your entire vehicle, there is one area you should routinely clean: the carpet. The carpet of your vehicle is the area that gets the dirtiest the quickest, which is why it's important to keep it clean. While cleaning the floor, you'll find items that have been misplaced or lost, which is an added bonus. And with PwC estimating that 107 million vehicles will be globally manufactured in 2020, there are more automobile cleaning products than ever before. So pick up some good carpet cleaner, plug in your vacuum, and try to clean your carpet at least once or twice a month to keep it in good shape.

Keeping your vehicle neat and organized doesn't have to take a lot of effort. Consider these simple tips and you'll be on your way to a cleaner car in no time.
