Carrie Underwood's Favorite Christmas Tradition Ruined By Stranger

Christmas traditions are a part of every family. Some people cook a special meal on Christmas Ever, others attend a midnight mass, and some just wake up early on December 25th to open presents. Whatever your tradition is, it's something that means a lot to you.

It's hard to imagine celebrities having simple family traditions, because we put them up on such a high pedestal, but for Carrie Underwood there's one tradition she's lost that she wishes she could have back.

During an interview with CMT, the expecting mother talked about what her and her family used to do on Christmas Eve, and how they would use the holiday to help others.

Growing up, at Christmas, we would go to my grandma's house. They lived down the street. We would go there, and all the kids, on Christmas Eve, and put apples, oranges and bananas in little paper bags.

And, then, we would all go to the nursing home and we would sing Christmas carols up and down the halls and pass out fruit to all the people who didn't have any visitors on Christmas Eve.

I wish we still did that. That was such a great memory that I will always treasure.

You'd think tradition is something fairly simple to carry on with, but one person managed to spoil the event.

We tried, one year, back home, and somebody who was at the place told everybody. All of the sudden there were all these people that weren't members of the nursing home who were just there. It kind of backfired, but we did try.

Underwood, who is married to former NHL player Mike Fisher, is expecting her second son in 2019, and along with her three-year-old son Isaiah, it's no doubt that Underwood is going to have her hands full. Despite the busy schedule, though, the country singer says it's all part of the job.

"Balance is what it's all about. No matter what your job is," Underwood told Us Weekly. "Being a mom, working and dividing your time. It is what we all have to do as mothers."

There's no question that Underwood and her family will be able to create new traditions of their own, especially now that Fisher is retired from playing hockey. This year's Christmas will be a little more low key as they prepare for the new baby, plus Underwood leaves for a new tour next year which will keep the family busy through 2019.

It's too bad that a stranger had to ruin the beautiful Christmas tradition that Underwood loved so much, but at least she's still trying to keep the spirit of the season alive, even if people are getting in the way of that.
