"My 600lb Life" Star Posts Cryptic Message Before Being Found Dead In Ditch

TLC

The show My 600lb Life is one of the most unique shows on television. Sure, we see stories about weight loss all the time, but the TLC program gives an in-depth, personal, and sometimes upsetting look into the lives of the morbidly obese.

Patients who appeared on the show were often facing death unless they made a change. Some would thrive after getting weight loss surgery, while others would revert back to their old habits.

One of the best success stories was L.B. Bonner, who weighed 642lbs when he finally reached out for help. After weight loss surgery and a lot of hard work, Bonner managed to get his weight down to 316lbs.

Bonner spoke highly of his experience on My 600lb Life.

"Doing the show has been an amazing journey not only for me but for my family as well," he said. "It's changed my relationship with myself, my relationship with my family, my relationship with my friends, and it's giving me an outlet to motivate and inspire so many other people."

Tragically, Bonner was found dead on August 2 in Lexington, South Carolina. Bonner was found in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the head. Police didn't immediately release whether or not they suspected foul play, but a cryptic message from the 30-year-old hours before his death made things confusing.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support throughout my journey...I've realized a few things over the last few days and its time that, I face my demons head on. No matter what you change or the efforts you put forth in life, sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and deal with things your own way...Again, thank y'all so much... Please don't ever let people you care about not know how you feel.

Almost a week after his death, police ruled Bonner's death a suicide. TLC released a statement on his passing.

James "LB" Bonner, who appeared on this past season of My 600 lb Life, has sadly passed away. On the show, viewers saw LB struggle with obesity following a tragic accident that claimed his right leg.

Even though he once weighed 650 pounds, LB's hard work and dedication helped get him in the 200-pound range. His spirit and determination as displayed through his story, quickly made LB a fan-favorite, and family & friends have taken to LB's Facebook page to commemorate his life.

TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB's passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on My 600lb Life.

Mental health issues are unfortunately more common than we think. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Rest in peace, L.B.
