Right After A TV Crew Warns About Dangers Of Thin Ice, A Man Jumps Into A Frozen Lake

<div><p>A man is lucky to be alive after jumping into a freezing pond to save his dog from drowning. </p><p>Duncan McIver of Edmonton, Alberta, was out for a walk with his French Bulldog Cosmo when the pup strayed too far and broke through the melting ice of a nearby pond. </p><p>Without hesitating, McIver crawled out on the thawing ice to save Cosmo, falling through the ice as he reached the dog. While the two of them struggled to keep their heads above the freezing water, McIver shoved Cosmo up onto a thicker section of ice. </p><p>While bystanders called 911, After climbing out himself, McIver climbed out of the ice himself and scooped up Cosmo and cautiously made his way back to shore, almost getting stuck when he stepped on another weak spot. </p><p>"As soon as the ice broke, I just went right in," <a href="http://www.itv.com/news/2017-04-10/man-jumps-into-frozen-water-to-save-his-dog/">McIver told CTV Edmonton</a>. "I think most people would do the same for their dog."</p><p>In an ironic twist, the <a href="http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/alberta-man-jumps-into-icy-pond-to-rescue-dog-1.3360968">news crew</a> who captured the video footage of the daring rescue were in the area to film a segment about the dangers of thin ice. </p><div><div><div><amp-youtube height="9" width="16" layout="responsive" data-videoid="Zqg2KwAJgvU"></amp-youtube></div></div></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>Both the man and his pup were shivering and soaking wet, but they were unharmed in the incident. </p><p>"I think he is ok.
