Woman Posts Consequences Of Miscarriages No One Talks About

<div><p>When a family suffers a miscarriage, it is one of the most painful things they will ever experience. </p><p>There are lot of things people think about when a miscarriage happens: telling the people you love, giving away your baby items, and grieving for the life that was lost. </p><p>But Janie Faville of Kansas City, Missouri recently shared another painful secret people rarely speak about. </p><p>The cost. </p><p>Janie suffered a miscarriage, which comes with many doctors appointments. If you don't have insurance, it can cost you upwards of $5500. </p><div><amp-facebook data-href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209199087676483&amp;set=a.1230230718112.2036647.1299420238&amp;type=3&amp;theater" layout="responsive" height="600" width="640"></amp-facebook></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>Janie's argument is in favor of Planned Parenthood, saying women need access to affordable medical care for situations out of their control. Even though her insurance covered about 75% of her medical costs, she still had to pay $1300 out of pocket.</p><p>"I had a missed miscarriage (or a missed abortion in medical terms), meaning that it wasn't at all like the movies," <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/moms-viral-post-shows-how-expensive-a-miscarriage-can-be_us_58b74564e4b023018c6ccaa7">she told</a> The Huffington Post. "I had been experiencing very minimal bleeding that we were monitoring and no cramping to speak of."</p><div><figure><amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/58b74cac2700001f007d777a.jpeg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/03/58b74cac2700001f007d777a_GH_content_550px.jpeg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img></figure></div><p>"One of the first things that I remember saying to my husband after the sonogram tech left the room was that I knew they would give us the choice between a D&amp;C and going home and letting my body take over," she recalled. "I told him that there was no way that I could just go home and wait for the inevitable to happen."</p><p>Janie says she was lucky to have insurance, but that others shouldn't have to be deterred because of their limited resources.</p><p>"While it was salt in the wound for me, I began thinking about women who are not fortunate enough to have sufficient insurance coverage through their employer and what thousands of dollars of medical debt could do for someone without a safety net "• all of this in addition to the devastating loss of a child."</p><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>Janie Faville is encouraging people to speak up about their experiences and fight for Planned Parenthood funding. </p><p>Do you agree that funding should be in place so women do not have to pay for necessary medical procedures out of pocket?
