<div><p>Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia announced a recall for some of their most popular vehicles in the U.S, Canada and South Korea.</p><p>The recall which was announced on Friday is due to the possibility of engine failure in certain cars and SUV models. </p><p>The North American models in question were assembled at Hyundai's Alabama plant and include vehicles with either 2-litre or 2.4-litre gasoline engines.</p><p>Affected models include 2013 and 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUVs and Sonata midsize cars as well as Kia Optima midsize cars from 2011 through 2014, Kia Sportage SUVs from 2011 through 2013 and Kia Sorento SUVs from 2012 through 2014.</p><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><div><figure><amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/Hyundai-sonata.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/Hyundai-sonata_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img><figcaption class="op-vertical-center">2014 Hyundai Sonata</figcaption></figure></div><p>According to the information posted on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, the engine issues are caused by debris left from manufacturing can restrict oil flow which could lead to increase in temperature and engine failure.</p><p> A knocking sound from the engine and/or dashboard warning lights are an indication that your vehicle could be experiencing a problem. </p><div><figure><amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/Kia-optima.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/04/Kia-optima_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img><figcaption class="op-vertical-center">2012 Kia Optima</figcaption></figure></div><p>Both Hyundai and Kia will notify owners of the recalled vehicles starting May 19 and problematic engines will be replaced at no cost.
