Julian Hernandez when he was 5-years-old and despite the best efforts of his mother and police, wasn't found - until he found himself 13 years later.
Julian applied for college in Cleveland when he turned 18, and was surprised to discover that his Social Security Number didn't match his name. He went to the office and investigated with the help of a school counselor.
They made the shocking discovery that Hernandez was reported missing in Alabama in 2002 by his mother. At the time authorities suspected his father, Bobby Hernandez, of the abduction. Bobby disappeared at the same time.
The counselor alerted police, who then arrested Bobby.
Julian must have a lot of mixed feelings. He pleaded with a judge not to jail his father. Despite the effort, Bobby was convicted and sentenced to 4 years in prison. The confusion and heartache caused by the abduction makes his father's crimes that much worse.
His safe discovery is a blessing to Julian's mother and family. They released a statement thanking everyone for the prayers and support over the past 13 years.
