Experts Say You're Rushing Your Tea - It Takes 5 Minutes For The Perfect Brew

There's nothing more relaxing than a warm cup of tea. Not only is it wonderfully soothing to drink, but there's something almost hypnotic about the steps to make a perfect cup of tea.

Until, that is, you find out you've been making your tea wrong for years!

Tea experts at University College London (yes, that's a real job) have found that 80% of people surveyed make one big mistake when it comes to tea.

1,000 people from the UK were surveyed about their tea habits and the results were pretty surprising. According to experts, 80% of people aren't brewing their tea long enough.

You may be used to dipping the teabag in until the water changes color and then tossing it in the sink, but according to researchers you should wait until the tea is completely absorbed in the water, which can take up to 5 minutes.

There actually is a recipe for a perfect cup of tea, made by experts at the British Standards Institute, but they're even more demanding. Not only do they suggest adding milk to your water before tea, they also say you should steep your tea for 6 full minutes before you serve it.

Experts may think they know what's best, but we say to each their own, especially when it comes to something as important as tea.
