'Voice' Fans Call Out Adam Levine For Sabotaging His Own Team Member

The Voice is one of the America's most popular TV shows, and a huge part of its appeal is how the competition feels like a "no drama" zone.

In an age where everyone is fighting and arguing all the time, it can be relaxing to sit back with your family and enjoy great songs performed by talented singers, plus their funny interactions with the celebrity judges.

But judge Adam Levine ruined the good mood on Tuesday night's episode, with a controversial decision that sent one of his own team members home.

Here's how the upsetting moment played out:

At this stage of the show, the bottom three contestants perform live hoping to win the one "Instant Save" from audience votes that could keep them on the show.

On Tuesday, those three singers were Blake Shelton's team member Dave Fenley, plus DeAndre Nico and Reagan Strange, both represented by Adam Levine.

But host Carson Daly revealed Reagan was "under the weather," and would not be taking the stage to perform during the live show.

Watch DeAndre's final live performanc:

After Dave and DeAndre went head to head, Blake made the case for his singer. But in a stunning move, Adam chose to fight for Reagan - who had not performed at all that night.

"There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show," Levine told DeAndre after his performance.

"I have two little girls at home. The thought of breaking [Reagan's] heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to redeem herself next week would be too far beneath me."

The judge went on to tell DeAndre, "I love you. I appreciate what you did here tonight. Honestly, I think you should both be there," but said he had to support Reagan because "she didn't have a voice to fight tonight."

DeAndre's fans became even more outraged when Levine basically told the singer he was going home.

"You have a lot of fans," Levine said. "Take those fans and build upon those fans and make a career for yourself, regardless of what the outcome is right now."

To her credit, Levine's fellow judge Kelly Clarkson stepped up and supported DeAndre after Levine basically gave up on him.

"I know Adam loves his team," she said. "He feels really bad for Reagan. DeAndre, you just sang the hell out of that song."

When the votes were tallied up, it seemed Levine gave Reagan the edge she needed, earning just 1% of the vote more than DeAndre.

But while DeAndre was sent packing, a statement he issued after the episode reveals he's at peace with the bizarre circumstances.

"You can never take an L when you're operating from your heart," he shared on Instagram.

So even though I didn't win I still won! The experience on The Voice itself is a win for me. I give all honor to God for giving me the exposure needed for my next steps in life. To my family, Voice family, and fans there's no way I can personally thank all of you but I know that I love you all entirely. All is well on my end. My journey continues, now y'all get DeAndre Nico himself. There's work to be done. Stay tuned.
