While Dunkleman hasn't responded to rumors, Seacrest was quick to announce his excitement.

"I had said at the end of the series, "˜Goodbye for now,' hoping somewhere it would come back," he explained. "So what I do know is, apparently it's unofficial but very close to being said it will be here. I don't know if I can host it..."

By "here," Seacrest is referring to ABC and New York City. He recently took the hosting gig with Kelly Ripa and Live! and would have some intense scheduling to do. Not to mention Idol normally takes place in Hollywood, so moving it to NYC would be a bit of an issue with die-hard Idol fans.

<amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/tv-kelly-ripa-co-host.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/tv-kelly-ripa-co-host_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/tv-kelly-ripa-co-host_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/tv-kelly-ripa-co-host_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
NY Daily News

As we said, judges are yet to be announced. You've gotta think ABC will be coming up with some big names after bidding so hard to get the show. If you're gonna do it, may as well do it right!
