Juicing for Health

Whether your joint pain has been caused by injury, aging, obesity or a chronic condition like arthritis or gout, we can all agree that it can be really debilitating.

The pain can be so severe that it begins to affect your quality of life, and keep you from doing the things you love.

I had to endure months of physiotherapy when I injured my knee joint, and even then, the pain didn't fully go away. On top of that, my family has a history of gout, and I've already started to experience some of the symptoms.

In some cases, the pain in our joints keeps happening because there isn't enough natural lubrication to prevent the bones from rubbing together.

There are a few ways to get your joints back in shape, and medication is one of them Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of popping pills. I have experienced some serious side effects that come with some prescription medications, so I had to look for other more natural solutions for relief.

I came across a lot of different opinions and remedies, but nothing worked quite as well as this turmeric drink, inspired by traditional Eastern medicine.

Over the years, the drink has grown in popularity due to its proven effectiveness in alleviating different types of pain, strengthening the tendons and ligaments, as well as protecting your body from other illnesses like the flu.

In addition to the turmeric, which known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and analgesic properties, this remedy also calls for ginger, carrots, lemon, pineapple and cucumber.

Like turmeric, ginger, carrots, lemons, and pineapples also have anti-inflammatory benefits. Additionally, the vitamin C in the citrus fruits also helps with the formation of collagen, which is very important for maintaining healthy joints.

The vitamin A and beta-carotene in orange-colored vegetables like carrots help with joint problems and arthritis. While the silica in cucumber can relieve gout and arthritis pain by lowering the levels of uric acid in the body.

The recipe is really easy to make, and a little goes a long way!

Here's What You'll Need:

- 1/2 cup carrot juice, fresh or store bought

- 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple

- 1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger

- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric

- 1 tablespoon orange juice

- 1 banana, optional

- 1 cup almond milk, optional

Directions:

1. Add all ingredients to the blender and blend on high speed until smooth. If mixture is too thick, add carrot juice or almond milk as needed.

2. Before serving, taste the mixture and adjust flavors. Adding more pineapple or banana for sweetness, lemon for sourness, ginger and turmeric for a kick.

The recipe makes two servings and will stay fresh in the fridge for a few days.
