Ben Affleck Got A Secret Makeover And We're All Wondering Why

CBC

We all go through several phases in life where we want to make a drastic change to our appearance.

We usually follow through on that risque new look when we're in our adolescent years.

One of my friends decided to become goth and another friend styled his hair into a mohawk and dyed it green. This phase only lasted for a year or two for each of them.

At the end of the day, the only person that will judge you is the person you will become in 10 years. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't cringe when they look back at their high school photos.

While you can shave that mohawk or throw away your black clothes and goth makeup, there are some spontaneous decisions that have a permanent impact on your life.

Ben Affleck isn't known for making a spur-of-the-moment decision, but it seems like he has made one that he might regret.

The former "Sexiest Man Alive" had the perfect body, face, and hair. Just look at those chiseled abs and that protruding collarbone!

While I still think the 45-year-old actor looks good, I have a bone to pick with the relatively recent change he made to his appearance...

When Dwayne Johnson got a bull tattoo on his right arm, it looked badass. Many people loved the new ink and the meaning behind it.

The thing is, The Rock already had a lot of tattoos on his body, so the bull was a nice addition, but many argue that Affleck's new back tattoo isn't a good look for him.

Although Affleck has a fish, skull and crossbones, and a dolphin on other parts of his upper body, the phoenix tattoo doesn't seem to blend well with the rest.

The father-of-three was first photographed with the the colorful phoenix tattoo in 2015.

Everyone was quick to comment on it, and he even told celebrity reporters that the tattoo was "fake for a movie." Fans on social media breathed a sigh of relief.

On a recent trip to Hawaii, the actor was photographed emerging out of the ocean with the same tattoo!

A source told E! News that the tattoo was actually real, and it's hard not to believe them.

The colorful body art had even his exes talking...

Opinions

Jennifer Garner told Vanity Fair, "A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes."

Jennifer Lopez was even more quick to judge. She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that the tattoo was just "awful."

"It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn't be so colorful. You know what I mean? They should be cooler," Lopez said.

Here's what people on social media had to say about the new look:

"I knew it! That stupid back tattoo is real on Ben Affleck. What the hell was he thinking!!!" wrote one Twitter user.

"Don't mock Ben Affleck's phoenix tattoo. It symbolizes how he has risen from the ashes, reborn as a guy with a tattoo that sucks," wrote another.

What do you think of Ben Affleck's colorful phoenix tattoo? Does it fit his image?
