Beth Chapman Updates Fans After Starting Chemotherapy

In the last health update about Dog the Bounty Hunter star Beth Chapman, her husband Dog told fans that Beth's cancer was "incurable."

After emergency surgery to remove a mass in Beth's throat last year, he shared the sad news that the cancer had spread to other parts of her body, including her lungs.

But her battle against the disease is obviously not over, as the Chapman family confirmed that Beth, 51, is treating the disease with chemotherapy.

Andrew Brettler, the family's attorney, said in a statement that Beth had begun chemotherapy in Los Angeles last month.

"They are going well, but they certainly take their toll on Beth," he said about the treatments. "She's a trooper though and a very tough lady."

Brettler also teased that, despite the difficult treatment, Dog (Duane Chapman) and Beth have already started filming their new TV series, Dog's Most Wanted.

"The Chapmans certainly have a lot on their plate," said Brettler.

While Dog previously told In Touch that Beth's cancer was "incurable," the family also told E! News that Beth had "a 50/50 chance of chemotherapy working."

A source close to the couple suggested to TMZ that Beth has been responding well to chemo so far.

Beth was previously diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017, and underwent a surgery to remove a mass in her throat. She remained cancer free for more than a year after the surgery, before a second mass in Beth's throat sent her to the hospital for emergency surgery last November.

Dog broke the news that Beth's cancer has spread to her lungs in an emotional interview with In Touch.

"I cry all the time," he admitted. "I think I'm in a bad dream and I need to wake up. People keep saying to me, 'Dog, are you okay?' But I'm not the one who's sick."

After the surgery, Dog and Beth left the hospital in L.A. for their Colorado home, where they spent the holidays with family. The family are still reportedly commuting between Colorado and L.A. for Beth's treatment.

As Beth told fans on Instagram last year, hopefully this treatment is "Another Bend in the road yet not the End of the Road."
