Two years after actress Carrie Fisher's tragic death following a cardiac event, her daughter, Billie Lourd, has paid tribute to the late star with a touching performance.

Lourd, Fisher's only child and an actress herself, shared the screen with her famous mother in the recent Star Wars films.

In an emotional Instagram post marking the second anniversary of her death, Lourd reflected on losing her "Momby" and her grandmother, actress Debbie Reynolds,  just one day apart.

"I still don't know what the "˜right' thing to do on a death anniversary is (I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones)," she wrote.

"So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together - sing."

🎏🅾️®ï¸ ♏️🅾️♏️🅱️🌱It has been two years since my Momby's death and I still don't know what the "right" thing to do on a death anniversary is (I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones). So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together - sing. This is the piano her father gave her and this was one of her favorite songs. And as the song says, we must "keep on moving". I've found that what keeps me moving is doing things that make me happy, working hard on the things that I'm passionate about and surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile. I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to "keep on moving". As my Momby once said, "take your broken heart and turn it into art" - whatever that art may be for you. ❤️

Lourd performed a moving piano cover of the Jackson Browne song "These Days," accompanying herself on a piano which she revealed was a gift to Fisher from her father, singer Eddie Fisher.

She called the piece "one of her favorite songs," and added that it has a special message about dealing with grief.

"And as the song says, we must 'keep on moving,'" Lourd explained.

The holidays can be a difficult time for some people, especially when they fall on a painful anniversary like the loss of a loved one. But Lourd shared a piece of advice from Fisher about recovering from tragedy:

"'Take your broken heart and turn it into art' -- whatever that art may be for you."

Lourd and Fisher are set to appear together again in the late actress' final 'Star Wars' film.

Lourd also spoke to her American Horror Story co-star Sarah Paulson about losing her mother and grandmother, in an interview for Town & Country.

"I've always kind of lived in their shadows, and now is the first time in my life when I get to own my life and stand on my own," she revealed.

"I love being my mother's daughter, and it's something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie."
