A Florida Cop Was At A Restaurant When A Shy Boy Came Up To Him - His Day Was About To Be Made

Eddie Benitez, a Florida police officer, was sitting at a restaurant one morning, when he got a message he definitely wasn't expecting.

From across the room, a nine-year-old boy, named Noah, saw officer Benitez, and got very nervous.

Noah told his mother that he wanted to talk to the officer but didn't know what to say, and that he was too shy to approach him.

That's when Noah came up with an idea. He decided that he wanted to use his birthday money to pay for the officer's breakfast. Noah's mom helped him tell the waitress about his plan, she then got the receipt for Noah so he could write a message to the officer.

When he was done writing the message, he ran to the officer's table and gave it to him.

When Officer Benitez picked it up, he was shocked as to what it said.

The note said, "I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service."

Benitez said he was instantly moved when he read the note. He then went over and sat with Noah and his mother. They talked for a few minutes before officer Benitez asked Noah to take a picture with him. Of course, Noah agreed.

This is what officer Benitez had to say about the situation.

"It meant everything. It meant that I'm supposed to wake up every morning and put on this uniform and go out there and do what I do. You know? It means that I need to keep trying to be a good example to all these young guys," officer Benitez later said.

Noah had been dreaming of becoming a police officer for four years before he met officer Benitez.

"I'm going to make the world a better place and capture the bad guys," he told Inside Edition.

When they met, I think both Noah and officer Benitez made each other's days.
