Bride Rushed To The Hospital In The Middle Of Her Wedding Reception After Going Into Labor

There's a lot to be excited about on your wedding day. It's the start of your new life together and is probably the biggest party you will ever throw. Most people put a lot of time and effort into their weddings. The planning can take several months and you can only hope that it will go off without a hitch, but for one couple, the sudden arrival of a new guest at their wedding truly made it a day they would never forget.

Dannie Mountford and her new husband Carl were enjoying their wedding. They had a beautiful ceremony and were dancing the night away when Dannie felt something strange.

Dannie was 36 weeks pregnant during her wedding on December 18th, but they couldn't have predicted that their baby was going to show up almost a month early! They planned their wedding fairly quickly, but they didn't anticipate that the pregnant bride would have to leave her own reception before cutting the cake to deliver her daughter.

"As I was dancing I felt something coming trickling down my leg, and when it didn't stop I ran over to my mum who helped me to the toilet," Dannie explained. "Whilst [sic] I was in the toilet all of the wedding guests were coming in to check on me and someone booked me a taxi to the hospital."

How did the guests handle the news that the bride was in labor? Not the way you'd expect...

Dannie was rushed to the hospital with her new husband, still in her dress. "It wasn't until I was in the labor ward that my wedding dress was taken off. It was soaking because of my waters bursting on it."

But just because the bride and groom were leaving, it didn't mean that the party had to stop. "We left the reception at roughly 10:30 pm to head to the hospital," Dannie said. "But some family members stayed for the rest of the reception. The DJ was still playing as I was leaving the venue and people were still finishing their drinks. We hadn't even cut the cake yet."

The couple welcomed their daughter, Jasmine, six hours after arriving at the hospital, and even though she was a surprise, they couldn't be happier. "Despite weighing only 6 lbs 4 oz, and arriving almost a month early, Jasmine is doing really well and was definitely the perfect wedding gift," Dannie said. "It also meant that our friends and family were all the first to know, which was magical. It's been hectic since because it was such a surprise, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world."

Some people might be upset that their perfect wedding was interrupted, but not Dannie. "Even though my dress and garter got ruined by my waters and my night was cut short, the day was still perfect to me."
