Gordon Ramsay Just Shared His Go-To American Breakfast Recipe And We Want It Now

The French have croissants and Italians have cafe lattes, but nothing beats a classic American diner-style breakfast consisting of eggs, potato hash, greasy bacon and a side of beans.

Finest America

Even renowned chef Gordon Ramsay agrees.

"The best breakfasts in the world are always in America," said Ramsay.

The Michelin star celebrity chef has already proven that he takes his breakfast seriously when he shared his scrambled eggs recipe, but now he has reveled his go-to all-American breakfast recipe and we wouldn't hesitate to try it.

Hello Magazine

While it may not be exactly like how your grandma or the cook at your favorite diner makes it, I think once you watch him prepare it, you'll want to eat it too. Let's just say it uses plenty of bacon and potatoes.

The dish is basically a giant hash brown bake topped with eggs and candied bacon. Sounds yum, right?

Ramsay starts by grating the potatoes and onions. He then drains the extra moisture before seasoning them so they can get "really nice and crispy" in the oven.

Next, he adds a "glug of olive oil" in a hot pan and presses down the potato mixture onto it. He lines the top with butter then cracks the eggs on top. The entire thing goes into the oven for a few minutes while he works on the most interesting part of this dish: the glazed bacon.

Ramsay apparently finds American bacon sweet (I don't understand how, but maybe as a chef his taste buds work differently), but apparently that's not a bad thing.

"One thing I could never get my head around when I first started eating American breakfasts was the sweetness from the bacon," he says in the video.

So to emulate the taste of the "sweet" bacon he's had in the past, Ramsay cooks his bacon strips in olive oil, butter, brown sugar, salt and pepper. He places them atop the hash brown and egg bake before serving the "all American superhero of a breakfast."

The recipe isn't exactly new, but Ramsay only uploaded the video this week and it has been going viral ever since. It's not hard to see why people have embraced this concoction because eggs baked in hash brown and topped with bacon just makes so much sense.

What do you think of Ramsay's take on an American classic?
