6 Ways Technology Is Hurting Your Body

Technology seems to be the best and worst part of our lives, with every great thing about it, there is a bad thing to match it. Here's six ways technology can be bad for your health.

1. Low sperm count.

A study showed that Wi-Fi can damage sperm and immobilize them. This for, obvious reasons, creates fertility problems in men. This isn't quite proven yet, but many studies show it to be true. Scientists encourage men to remove their devices from their laps until further research is done.

2. Carpal Tunnel.

People that spend many hours on their phones or other devices, can develop carpal tunnel syndrome in the future. A study was done that showed people that used their devices for more than 5 hours a day had increased wrist and hand pain.

3. Computer Vision Syndrome.

This syndrome stems from looking at a computer screen for many hours of the day. This syndrome can have serious effects, such as leading people to be interested in LASIK surgery, and common symptoms including eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision. Staring at a screen is almost unavoidable, since most jobs require computer use throughout the day. To avoid this syndrome, take a lot of breaks and blink frequently.

4. Insomnia.

We all know by now that devices ruin your sleep. This is because the blue-light they give off wakes your brain up, and tells it that it is day time instead of night time. This leads to not being able to sleep, and possible insomnia in the future.

5. Hearing loss.

Headphones are great, they allow us the listen to music anywhere. We have to be careful how we use our headphones because they can potentially be very dangerous. Turning up your music too loud can damage your ears and even cause hearing loss. To avoid this, keep your music at half its maximum volume or below.

6. Possible Cancer.

Although this isn't proven yet, in a study, researchers exposed rats and other mice to radio frequency radiation (RFR), which is emitted by cell phones. They exposed them to it over the course of nine hours every day for two years which is equivalent to about 70 years in human years.

The exposure levels ranged from the maximum exposure that is legally allowed for cell phones to four times that amount. Researchers found heart tumors in male rats exposed to the radiation. Don't freak out just yet, there is not enough research to firmly prove this theory, but keep an eye out for years to come.
