Help This Necklace Find Its Way Home

Siesta Key is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Sarasota, Florida. It’s known for its sandy beaches.

Shawn Rauch was out on Sunday night at Siesta Key Beach when he found a necklace with someone’s mother’s ashes inside. It seems he is a metal detector, though he was in the water when he found it.

Shawn Rauch is hoping to find the rightful owner.

Rauch posted to Facebook on Monday afternoon of the silver necklace with the word "Mom” inscribed in the middle of it. The post reads:

"I was neck deep in the water at siesta key last night and found someone’s mother’s ashes on a necklace. Share this and help me find the owner!!"

Rauch has not heard from any leads on who the owner of the necklace could be. He does urge anybody with leads to contact him via Facebook, which you can reach here.  Or to share the image, which you can do here.

Not everyone thinks it's a good idea for people to go about sharing images like this. Is it possible that perhaps the ashes were meant o be placed there? It is a beautiful spot.

I was not aware that cremation jewelry was so popular, but a quick check on the internet showed me that it was. In fact, I was able to find this exact one.

However, it does my heart good to see someone trying to find the owner of this. I will definitely share. Positive vibes sent your way!
