As a parent, every time you hear about child abductions in the news, your chest tightens a bit. It's hard to even imagine your kid being taken away from you by a stranger, or in some cases, a relative.

Unfortunately, this is a reality that many families in America live with. According to the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Missing Person File, there are 88, 089 active missing person records, and 32, 121 of them are juveniles under the age of 18.

But every once in a while a potential victim of abduction does get to go home to their family, thanks to the efforts of a few good Samaritans.

This week, Georgia authorities and the family of two young children are singing the praises of a bus driver whose quick thinking may have foiled a kidnapping plot.

Investigators in Jefferson said that the brother and sister pair were getting off their school bus when an older man driving a gray, four-door car called out to them and asked them to get into his car.

The bus driver became suspicious after failing to recognize the man's car, so he decided to speak with him through the window and asked the children if they knew the man before he would let them off the bus.

When the children didn't provide a clear answer, he kept them on the bus and called their mother, who confirmed that neither did she send anyone nor did she know anyone matching the stranger's description.

The man, who is described as "white" and "balding" quickly drove off before police arrived at the scene.

Authorities reviewed the security footage from the cameras on the bus, but they weren't able to get a clear look at the suspects face.

Police is now asking residents to be on the lookout for a man matching the aforementioned description. They also confirmed that they will be increasing patrols in the area.
