Kate Hudson Gushes About Her Role Model (And Mom) Goldie Hawn

Kate Hudson is part of an extremely famous family in Hollywood. Her parents, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, have stood the test of time and raised Kate wonderfully.

Though Russell is not her biological father, Hudson often refers to him as her dad. When working on a movie together, she confessed that he knows how to make her crack.

"What would be harder is in the future if we have to do a scene where"”there will at some point be something in a serious scene where he'll strike me as funny and I won't be able to get out of it," she said. "That makes me more concerned, because I"”I'm hard to get back, like once I start to laugh, it takes a bit... I know my dad's gonna to do it to me!"

She also credits Russell for teaching her about honesty and humility.

"I think when you grow up with parents like I did, competitiveness in this world is like a 'no, no," Hudson said. "You get it right away. Kurt was great with that stuff when we were growing up. He is so honest, so brutally honest. I love him so much; he is just a great guy. He is an original. He doesn't buy into things."

But her biggest role model? Her famous mother, Goldie Hawn. Recently, Hawn and Hudson attended the SAG Awards together, and Hudson could not stop gushing about the woman who raised her.

Hawn and Hudson were set to present an award at the gala together, which marked the first time they had ever done so.

"We've presented dinner together," Hawn joked on the red carpet. "She's presented me with two gorgeous grandsons, but this is the first time we've done this together."

When Hudson was asked what she's learned from her mother, she didn't know where to start.

"How much time do we have? It's challenging because it is that plentiful," Hudson said. "I feel lucky, blessed that I have a role model that I can call mom. I think that compassion, to be compassionate. I have a lot of fight in me by nature. I think one of the things that my mom has taught me is to find compassion in everything I do. Kindness and that family is everything. That how we raise our children is the true legacy for everyone and everything, so everything we put our heart into is really for our family."

And what has Hawn learned from her daughter?

"Absolutely nothing," she joked. "We learn a lot from each other. We just listen. The problem is that as parents, we think we're supposed to know everything. But if you listen to your child, they will tell you things and every child is different. So what Kate and I have together is not what Oliver [Hudson's brother] or Wyatt [Hawn's son with Russell] and I have together, because if you listen to your kid, you hear who they are and ... not who you think they should be. Kate has taught me a lot. She is in many ways tougher than I was with the kids. I think I wanted everyone to be happy all the time. At the same time she is extremely truthful. I think it's vitally important to take the truth as much as you don't want it."

What a beautiful, loving relationship between a mother and her daughter!
