If you thought that nothing could be more delicious than a piping hot cinnamon roll, baked to golden-brown perfection, and drizzled with satiny smooth icing... I've got news for you. This recipe for Cinnamon Roll Dutch Apple Pie takes all that mouthwatering goodness and uses it as the heavenly foundation for a gorgeous and irresistible apple pie filling. Say goodbye to those diet plans!
Thanks to Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and canned apple pie filling, these are surprisingly easy to prepare. Chopped pecans and ground cinnamon add that home-made quality. These are so good, but fair warning: they will not last long on the counter!
- 5 Granny smith apples (sliced)
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 cans Pilsbury cinnamon rolls (rolled flat)
- ¼ cup cold butter (sliced thinly)
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C and spray a pie dish with nonstick oil. Peel and cut the apples into thin slices and place in a bowl.
Add sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch to apples and stir.
Roll each cinnamon roll out until thin. Layer the bottom of the pie dish with the flattened cinnamon rolls to create a bottom crust.
Add the apple filling.
Add slices of butter.
Layer the rest of the rolls on top to create a closed crust.
Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes uncovered. Allow the pie to cool and drizzle with icing.
