Happy Peeps??!

December 31 is obviously best known as New Year's Eve and people around the world are gearing up to end 2018 in style. Normally that means champagne, fancy clothes, a hot date, and a clock to tick away 2018.

All of those things are great, but Bethlehem, Pennsylvania has a different idea.

The tiny town near Allentown is the headquarters for Just Born, the company that manufactures those tasty and adorable marshmallow PEEPS.

So it makes sense that Bethlehem is also home to "PEEPfest", the annual two-day festival celebrating squishy snacks. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of PEEPfest, so they want to do it big.

Real big.

Instead of dropping the ball like in Times Square, Bethlehem will be dropping a massive, 400-pound PEEP.

The organizers of the festival are also kid (and old people) friendly, because the chick will drop at 5:15 p.m. That means you don't have to stay up until midnight to be involved with the festivity.

It seems like a fun, if strange, way to bring in a new year, but hey, to each their own!

Do you have any New Year's traditions?

I've been writing for Shared for 6 years. Along with my cat Lydia, I search for interesting things to share with you!
