Best known for his roles in Face/Off and Leaving Las Vegas, Nicolas Cage was once known as one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood, once having a whopping fortune of $150 million.

But it wouldn't be long until the A-lister would squander his money on a lavish lifestyle. Cage would spend his wealth on several expensive and eccentric purchases that even the richest people in the world couldn't dignify.

It wouldn't be long until Cage faced foreclosure on several of his properties and owed the IRS more than $14 million. It also seems like The Academy award-winning actor is taking any movie role to pay off his massive debts.

But now left with a net worth riddled down to a measly $25 million, we have to ask ourselves, what things were so important for him to waste his fortune on?

15 Properties

You might be thinking, who needs 15 properties? Well the answer is this movie star.

At one point Cage owned properties such as a $25 million waterfront home in Newport Beach, California, a $15.7 million countryside estate in Newport, Rhode Island, and an $8.5 million estate in Las Vegas.

He also owned a $3.4 haunted mansion in New Orleans.

In Europe, Cage owned two castles worth $10 million and $2.3 million, respectively.

And of course, his own $3 million private island in the Bahamas.

Burial Tomb

Since Cage (probably) couldn't get his own tomb in Eygpt, he paid for one to be constructed for him in New Orleans, reportedly in close proximity to his haunted mansion.

His nine-foot tall pyramid is engraved with "Omni Ab Uno," which is Latin for "Everything From One."

Dinosaur Skull

A self-proclaimed history buff, Cage once outbid fellow actor Leonardo DiCaprio for a 7-million-year-old dinosaur skull. Unfortunately, the $276,000 fossil turned out to be stolen, and Cage forced to return it to the Mongolian government. He did not get a refund.

Exotic Animals

An animal lover, Cage once owned two albino king cobras for $270,000 and an octopus for $150,000.

At one point, he was reported to have a shark and crocodile as well.

The late Shah of Iran's Lamborghini

During a 1997 auction, Cage purchased the late Shah of Iran's Lamborghini for $450,000. Luckily enough, the 1971 Lamborghini Miura SVJ had less than 2,000 miles on it.

Comic Books

A massive superhero buff, Cage reportedly had a comic book collection worth more than $1.6 million.

Among his top possessions was Action Comics #1, which was the very first appearance of Superman. He allegedly spent $150,000 on the purchase. Unfortunately, he was forced to sell his comic for a staggering $2,161,000.

Pygmy Heads

While it's unknown why Cage had an assortment of pygmy heads, we do know they have an eerie background, as head hunters would collect them as trophies or use them for rituals and trade purposes.
