"A Nurse's Prayer:" A Heartwarming Poem Someone Who Knows A Nurse Will Understand

I thank God every day that my beloved mother is part of my life. Her wisdom and guidance has saved me on a number of occasions, but it's also saved the lives of many others.

Not everyone can say that about their mother, but those who can, it's probably because their mother is also a nurse.

When I was a child, every time my mother went out to work a night shift I would miss her. She'd come home tired, not just because she worked all night long on her feet, but because of all the things she saw and had to deal with just in one night.

Some days I would see her eyes well up with tears, remembering that ICU patient she grew close to who ended up not making it, or that a young patient from emergency who died so suddenly, and she went to console their grieving family.

I wanted my mother to be only mine, but as I grew older, I realized that I should be proud of a mother who is needed. A mother who has allowed others be able to go home to their mothers.

This poem is for selfless nurses like my mother who have worked hard to save and better lives.

Thank you to all the nurses who have taught us compassion, selflessness, and bravery. I wish you all the best, and know that God has been watching your good deeds.

Share this poem with a nurse you know to remind them how much we love and appreciate them!
