Research Shows That Not All UK Stars Are From London

London is likely the first city you will mention when asked to name where most UK celebrities come from - and you will not be wrong. The UK's capital city is the heart of the nation's creative industry and is the country's cultural, transport, and economic centre. As such, it is no surprise that many musicians, performers, fashion models, authors, and other creatives trace their roots here. London is also home to some of the world's biggest clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea, the favourite picks of numerous bettors at Betway casino. Therefore,  you will see some of the best footballers in the world in this city. However, London isn't the only area in the UK to produce some big names. Below are some other areas around the UK and the stars they have produced.

Edinburgh

The Scottish capital boasts of several star names that rival London-born celebrities. Iain Glen, popularly known for his role as Ser Jorah Mormont in the Game of Thrones series, was born in Edinburgh and is a product of the Edinburgh Academy. Lindsay Duncan, Emun Elliot, Sean Connery, and Georgia King are also some famous big-screen names to come from Edinburgh. The Labour Party's longest-serving prime minister and the first and only person to lead the party to three successive general election victories, Tony Blair, is also a native of this great city. Graeme Souness, the former Liverpool FC captain, and current Sky Sports pundit, also hails from Edinburgh.

Middlesbrough

The town of Middlesbrough has produced pretty successful football managers like Brian Clough and former Manchester City and Leeds United coach Don Revie. Middlesbrough is also home to X-Factor winner James Arthur, who has about 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1.5 billion views on YouTube. Game of Thrones actress Faye Marsay, magician Marin Daniels, and ex-Liverpool man Stewart Downing all hail from Middlesbrough.

Belfast

The George Best Belfast City Airport celebrates one of the most prominent personalities to ever originate from Northern Ireland's capital: George Best. Best played for Manchester United, won the Ballon D'or in 1968, and is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time. Nobel Peace Prize recipient Betty Williams, famed for her role in solving the Troubles in Northern Ireland, also comes from Belfast. Kenneth Branagh, Jamie Dornan, and Paula Malcomson also trace their roots to Belfast.

Cardiff

Ryan Giggs, the current Wales National Team manager, former Manchester United attacker, and co-owner of Salford City, was born and bred in Cardiff before relocating to Manchester. Craig Bellamy and current Wales National Team captain Gareth Bale are also Cardiff natives. The Welsh capital city is also home to famous novelist Ken Follet CBE, best known for his works 'The Key to Rebecca' and 'The Pillars of the Earth', and  'Eye of the Needle.' Furthermore, you have undoubtedly heard about Cardiff-born Shirley Bassey if you are a fan of the James Bond franchise. The legendary singer recorded the theme songs for three Bond films, most notably 'Diamonds Are Forever.'
