Shark Tank Host Daymond John Opens Up About His Cancer Diagnosis

<div><p>A host of one of TV's most popular reality shows is opening up about his recent cancer diagnosis.</p><p>After 200 episodes of the popular reality show - where entrepreneurs try to get one of the "sharks" to invest in their idea - lots of viewers feel a special connection to the hosts, which is why he decided to discuss his condition publicly.</p><p>But he also hopes that increasing awareness about <a href="https://www.shared.com/cancer-survivor-wants-everyone-to-know-about-this-one-symptom/">thyroid cancer</a> will encourage more people to be proactive about their health.</p><div><figure><a href="http://frostsnow.com/shark-tank" target="_blank"><amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/lori-greiner-husband-married-divorce-and-children.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/lori-greiner-husband-married-divorce-and-children_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/lori-greiner-husband-married-divorce-and-children_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/lori-greiner-husband-married-divorce-and-children_GH_content_750px.jpg 750w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img></a><figcaption class="op-vertical-center"><cite><a href="http://frostsnow.com/shark-tank" target="_blank">Frost Snow</a></cite></figcaption></figure></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p></p><p>Daymond John, the founder of clothing company FUBU, who's been a shark since the show debuted in 2009, revealed his diagnosis during an interview on <em>Good Morning America </em>this week.</p><p>John's doctors found a nodule on his thyroid last year and continued to monitor it. Last month the businessman and motivational speaker had an operation to remove the nodule and half of his thyroid.</p><p>Like fellow celebrity <a href="https://www.shared.com/this-modern-family-star-secretly-battled-cancer-2268314834/">Sofia Vergara</a>, John wanted to raise awareness about the disease and let his fans know he's doing alright.</p><p>"I want to share this with people because that's what success is. It's staying in your family's lives, it's being around," he said.</p><p>"If I decided to just stick my head in the sand and go, 'you know what, I'm not going to check into stuff,' I would've really had some big, big problems."</p><div><div><div><amp-youtube height="9" width="16" layout="responsive" data-videoid="lIhWudfYMQg"></amp-youtube></div></div></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p></p><p>Thyroid cancer is usually very slow and not aggressive.
